Film Review: Bring Me the Head of the Machine Gun Woman (2013)

“Trashy – delivered in style and buckets of bullets!”

Essentially, you could sum this up with the tag-line “Grindhouse meets Grand Theft Auto”.

Che, played by Jorge Alis, is a Chilean gangster feared by all – except that is, the machine gun woman, the unbelievably sexy Fernanda Urrejola who is out to kill him and anyone else who gets in her way. As to the why, it isn’t important, nor how the innocent DJ (Santiago Fernandez) is embroiled within the tale, but suffice to say Che has put a price on the machine gun woman’s head.

What is important is the level of violence – as you would expect from such a title – delivered in style and buckets of bullets, and all wrapped around the look of DJ’s favourite game, GTA. Even if you’re unfamiliar with how the game looks, you will still recognise it, but fans will immediately smile at the camera angles and on-screen titles.

Everything about this film is made for the inner-fourteen year-old boy with Urrejola’s costume describing the whole look perfectly and succinctly in just one word: trashy. This is not a film for critical analysis, but to be enjoyed with a couple of beers.
