We receive all kinds of emails at This Is Horror. Usually they are press releases for a DVD, or upcoming film festivals, and horror conventions. Occasionally though, something comes across the news desk that is a little out of the ordinary and deserving of its own special spot, so when we saw an email from Horrify Me, we knew right then and there that this was something completely different that our readers would love to see.
Working out of Kent in England, Horrify Me aims to dig into your darkest nightmare, or kinkiest dreams, and make them come true, memorialised forever in his own brand of specialised photography. For the last 25 years, Rick Jones and his team have been one of the driving forces behind Horror Portraits, a special brand of photography where the subject is transformed into a beast, or vampire, or demon, or whatever. His company is the leader in horror and fantasy photography, and all it takes is a quick glimpse at the photo gallery to see that these guys know what they are doing and are willing to take that extra step to make sure your next photography session is something truly original, and very scary.
Think of the popular Dead Yourself app for your phone, imagine that on steroids, and you still wouldn’t even come close to the effects Jones and his team can do for your pictures. If you want your family of five to look like zombies from The Walking Dead, or like a scene straight out of the The Exorcist, Jones if your man. He supplies the makeup, digital effects, and custom prints, so all you need is to schedule an appointment at his studio, and he handles the rest. These shoots are bloody, gory, and very messy, so it’s best to wear garments you don’t plan on keeping. He also specializes in tasteful art-nudes, and regular, non-horror portraits as well. Jones and his crew are all about keeping it professional and very classy, and pay close attention to insure his subjects feel comfortable on the set.
Jones’ images have graced the pages of many horror magazines like Coffin Cuties, Digital Dead, and Sanitarium. He has also done cover art for many horror novels, including Lisa Richardson’s It’ll Come Back as well as her Blog of the Dead books. He has also been featured on many websites such as Daily Dead, Movie Pilot, Daily Star, and Mirror.
This all looks pretty damn cool if you ask us, so if you’re looking for your next family portrait to have that extra something special, you could do a lot worse than get in touch with Horrify Me to make those pictures come to life in bloody, terrifying fashion.
