This Is Horror

Look Out For … Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark

“With his latest novella, Clark takes a page from our darkest history, cranks it up to Hell on Earth, and maintains a great sense of relevancy of the world we live in now.”

It’s 1915. The film The Birth of a Nation has cast its deadly spell over America. The Klan’s ranks swell from the darkest imaginations of white folks. They ride across the nation, spreading fear and sparking violence against vulnerable citizens. They wish a Hell on Earth, but even the Ku Kluxes can die.

Maryse Boudreaux stands in their way. Along with her fellow resistance fighters, including a Harlem Hellfighter and a foul-mouthed sharpshooter, they arm themselves with bullets, blades, and bombs. They hunt the hunters, sending the demons back to Hell.

Something terrible is brewing in Macon. The war on Hell is about to ramp up.

Maryse needs to stop the Klan before they end the world.
