Horrified Press launch new chapbook by Cynthia Morrison
In the Briar is the latest story by acclaimed horror writer Cynthia Morrison (previous short stories have been included in anthologies The Black Cat, Neon and Blood and more besides). It tells the story of an immortal woman and her struggle to discover whether eternal life is a blessing or a curse. Featuring fallen angels, visionaries and myriad other creatures of myth, In the Briar is available now and you can pick it up here.
Double novelette Paranoia Tango by Ray Garton available now
SST Publishing have just announced the release of a new double novelette by Ray Garton (Live Girls, Ravenous) entitled Paranoia Tango. The first story sees a sleepy town where strange children have begun going door to door, asking to be let inside people’s homes, often with harrowing consequences, while in the second a man’s pet iguana has grown to an enormous size and started to talk. Each story is described as creepy, weird and heavily character driven and the book has received praise from the likes of Richard Chizmar (A Long December) and Patrick Freivald (Jade Sky). SST publishing are taking pre-orders for the book in two hardback versions, the first being a signed and numbered edition and the second being a signed and lettered remarqued version. The process of death reimagined as the worst possible ‘trip’ in Sodom & Chimera Productions’ Flesh of the Void
From writer and director James Quinn (The Law of Sodom) comes an independent film sure to prevent even the most hardened horror fans from sleeping. Quinn describes the film as a visualisation of what the process of dying might look like, were it the most horrifying experience of one’s existence. The film has been shot on grainy super 8 to add to the unsettling nature of it and, by the looks of the trailer, below, it will provide plenty of scares. Occult detective novel The Adventures of Roderick Langham released through Theaker’s Quarterly
From Rafe McGregor (The Architect of Murder) comes The Adventures of Roderick Langham, a collection of nine stories about an occult detective with the power to perceive reality below the surface of every day illusion. the stories take place in the Sherlock Holmes universe and Langham works with John Watson, and Sebastian Moran, among others. The story collection is available now.
