McConaughey to take The Stand?

Matthew McConaughey is rumoured to be playing the role of antagonist, Randall Flagg, in Josh Boone’s adaptation of The Stand, by Stephen King. After much speculation it seems that Matthew McConaughey is tipped to embody the villain for the epic four-part saga, backed by Warner Bros. In recent years, Oscar-winner McConaughey has gone from strength to strength, starring in critically acclaimed TV show True Detective. The Stand, directed by The Fault in Our Stars’ Josh Boone, will portray one of Stephen King’s most successful books over a series of feature length films.

Uncertainty over Constantine’s future

The future of NBC’s Constantine is in doubt after the network announced that they will cease production at 13 episodes for season one. The programme will continue to air in its primetime slot of 10p.m. on Friday nights, but questions have now arisen about whether season two is likely to be commissioned if the first does not prove to be a success. Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde come to ITV

ITV have now commissioned a brand new, 10 part series based on Robert Louis Stephenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The adaptation, Jekyll and Hyde, has been written and will be executive produced by Charlie Higson, author of the Young Bond books. The plot will follow the life of Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the infamous Dr Jekyll, who sets out to explore his past and reveal the mystery behind his plight. Casting has now begun and filming is scheduled to begin January 2015. Keep watching This Is Horror for more information as it comes in.

Sea Con #1 Launches on Saturday

A few weeks ago, This Is Horror announced that PS Publishing will be hosting a night of readings from established genre authors. Sea Con #1 is taking place this Saturday, 29 November at the Floral Hall in Hornsea. Tickets come in at just £4 and you can expect to see readings from  Ramsay Campbell, Pete Crowther, Mark Morris and Alison Littlewood. The ticket price also covers a curry supper and you can still get your hands on one at the PS Publishing website.

Jurassic World is now open- You may enter

Earlier this week, the trailer for the fourth installation of the Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World, was released into the wild. The story follows the opening of Jurassic World, a futuristic park, with new attractions and new dinosaurs. All hell breaks loose when the latest dinosaur, genetically modified by scientists, escapes and causes a trail of destruction in its path. Directed by Colin Trevorrow with input from Steven Spielberg, executive producer, the film is due for release Friday 12 June 2015.
