News Round-up Week Ending 31 May 2019

Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …

Coming July from Black Shuck Books, Pareidolia, edited by James Everington and Dan Howarth

Released through Black Shuck Books, Pareidolia is a new anthology of dark and surreal fiction, edited by James Everington and This is Horror alumnus Dan Howarth. Following on from the British Fantasy Award-nominated Imposter Syndrome, Everington and Howarth have assembled a roster of talented authors including Sarah Read, Tim Major and G. V. Anderson, among others to handle the subject matter of the title: Pareidolia, the sensation of seeing shapes or hearing voices which apparently are not really there. Coming July, you can pre-order your copy in Paperback or eBook format, here.

Released 12 July through Hersham Horror Books comes The Woods, the sixth anthology in the PentAnth range

Featuring writers such as Phil Sloman, Penny Jones and more, The Woods is an anthology focussed on the dark terrors to be found in the woods. Released through Hersham Horror Books, The Woods is set to be a kindle and paperback release and features five stories where the woodland setting provides possibilities of dark, chilling occurrences. Following on from previous PentAnth releases from the label, including FogboundDead Water and others, this anthology will be available from 12 July and you can preorder your copy now, here.

New supernatural procedural novel, Ragged Alice, from multi-genre author Gareth L. Powell, out now through Tor.com

DCI Holly Craig grew up an orphan in the welsh town of Pontyrhudd. As soon as she was old enough she ran away to London, where she joined the police. Fifteen years later, she is assigned to her old hometown to deal with what seems to be a simple hit-and-run case. Things quickly turn far more complex, sinister and personal. Out now from Tor.com and written by one of the foremost sci-fi and space opera authors of the moment, Ragged Alice shows that Gareth L. Powell also has scares in his toolbox. You can order your copy of Ragged Alice, here.
