This Is Horror

The Cutting Room: Black Mirror

Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm—a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone—a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.

Why we’re looking forward to this: The first two seasons (and Christmas special) of Charlie Brooker’s incredibly dark and ground-breaking Black Mirror were a real breath of fresh air and provided some of the most thought provoking horror / science fiction that has graced the small screen in a good few years.

Season three is about to arrive, produced by Netflix, which not only ups the episode count to six for this season (and the already announced season four) but promises to go even darker and unearth even more terrifying visions of futures that are dangerously close to becoming reality.

Black Mirror premiers globally on Netflix on 21 October.
