Why we’re looking forward to this: In our never ending quest to bring unusual and interesting horror films to your attention, Jennifer Help Us fits the bill due to it having been shot entirely on an iPhone 4S. No, come back, it’s not another shoddy amateurish found footage movie, it’s actually got the makings of a creepy retro genre flick.

The trailer evokes memories of the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre, set as it is in a town seemingly in the middle of nowhere and the aforementioned so-called haunted house looking exactly like the kind of unwelcoming, broken down property that has been a staple of backwoods horror movies for decades.

We get work benches full of sharp, rusty implements, narrow corridors populated with mask wearing maniacs and wide open spaces meaning that even if you run, there’s nowhere to escape to.

Jennifer Help Us is debuting at the Another Hole in the Head festival in San Francisco in early December.

Jurassic World

Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.

Why we’re looking forward to this: While the two sequels were arguably a bit lacklustre, there’s no denying that the original Jurassic Park was a bone fide classic monster movie. The trailer for Jurassic World takes the premise to the logical conclusion, with a ‘Disneyworld with dinosaurs’ style theme park that we just know is going to go pear shaped.

The minute somebody mentions splicing DNA and creating a new dinosaur, we’re already salivating at the possibility at a brand new big nasty terrorising the visitors (which, yes, includes the usual cute Spielbergian kid who we’re introduced to in the trailer) and generally creating chaos.

Whether there will be any of the jaw dropping, game changing moments that made the original such a treat only time will tell, but Jurassic World should at the very least be an entertaining couple of hours.

Jurassic World is out next summer.
