Michael David Wilson, founder of This Is Horror, here. It is no secret that the past few years have been tough for me. Goodness, they’ve been tough on so many of us, but today we get things back on track with the This Is Horror Awards. Here’s what’s going to happen …
The public nominations are now open for This Is Horror Awards for works released in 2024 in the following categories.
- Novel of the Year
- Novella of the Year
- Short Story Collection of the Year
- Fiction Podcast of the Year
- Nonfiction Podcast of the Year
The This Is Horror Awards 2024 will take place in the first half of 2024 and the shortlist will be announced shortly after the public nominations close.
Readers can e-mail in their nominations for each category. Taking into consideration the nominations for each category This Is Horror will then draw up a shortlist.
We invite you to include one sentence as to why each nomination is award-worthy.
The public nominations stage runs from 7 January until 17 January 2025.
Rules
- To be eligible for an award, where applicable, the creative work must have been released between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024. This means that the first release/publication must have occurred within the above time period.
- You may only nominate two items per category. If you nominate more than two, This Is Horror will only recognise your first two nominations.
- You may nominate in as many categories as you like.
- Do not send in a nomination for your own work.
- All nominations must be emailed to awards@thisishorror.co.uk with the subject line ‘This Is Horror Award Nominations 2024′.
Public nominations close at 12:01 a.m. PST on 17 January 2025.
Note To Publishers
Publishers are invited to send eligible work to This Is Horror for consideration. We will happily accept digital files, ideally in mobi format.
This Is Horror Legacy Awards for 2022 and 2023
One of the casualties of a turbulent time for me both personally and professionally was the This Is Horror Awards for 2022 and 2023, that’s why in the second half of 2025 we will announce the shortlist for the This Is Horror Legacy Awards for works released in 2022 and 2023. There is nothing you need to do at this stage as we have already had public nominations, I just wanted to keep you good people informed and for you to know that we will still be celebrating the many great works that came out in 2022 and 2023.
This Is Horror Awards 2025
Going forward, we will no longer have a public nominations stage that’s open for a finite window but rather we invite readers and publishers to nominate works throughout 2025 in the following categories.
- Novel of the Year
- Novella of the Year
- Short Story Collection of the Year
- Fiction Podcast of the Year
- Nonfiction Podcast of the Year
Just email awards@thisishorror.co.uk with the subject line in this format ’This Is Horror Awards 2025: TITLE OF WORK BY AUTHOR OF WORK [CATEGORY]’.
