The Outer Dark Quarantine Reading series spotlights the much-anticipated Weird Dream Society anthology, which benefits RAICES, a Texas-based nonprofit which ‘envision[s] a society where all people have the right to migrate and human rights are guaranteed’. Anya Martin interviews editor-in-chief Julie C. Day about the genesis of this anthology which seeks to broaden perspectives on the scope of what Weird fiction can be, spanning multiple genres including science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Readings begin (0:25:57) with an introduction by Julie, followed by Marianne Kirby ‘The Ghost Who Loves a Mannequin’ (0:26:21), Steve Toase ‘Skin Like Carapace’ (0:34:33), Jordan Kurella ‘Jewel of the Vashwa’ (0:44:01), Gregory Norman Bossert ‘HigherWorks’ (0:50:46), Carina Bissett ‘The Landscape of Lacrimation’ (1:00:18), Chip Houser ‘Meat for Skritches’ (1:09:56), and Sarah Read ‘Into the Wood’ (1:15:20).
