Show Notes

The Outer Dark Quarantine Reading series continues with  Kristi DeMeester and Josh Malerman (0:48:23). Kristi reads the complete story ‘Immolation’ (Nox Pareidolia, Nightscape Press, 2020) (0:10:33) and Josh  reads an excerpt from his novella A House at the Bottom of a Lake (This Is Horror Chapbook series 2016; Del Rey 2021) (1:11:13). Kristi talks about the launch of her horror-themed Scent from Hell Candle Company,  secrets in Southern suburban woods, her upcoming ‘fiercely feminist horror’ novel Such a Pretty Smile (St. Martin’s Press, 2022), and the importance of seeing more Weird horror by women writers released by New York publishers.  Josh talks about creating a workspace where ‘anything can happen’,   what’s up with his film production company Spin a Black Yarn, a Spanish Bird Box spin-off movie,  his practical writing advice, and dogs.  Plus they start by sharing their experiences with lockdown living key word near two major American metropolises and end with their own quarantine reading recommendations. Be sure to scroll down to Additional Links for order links and more. Kristi’s reading was recorded on Tuesday March 16, and Josh’s reading was recorded on Thursday March 25, 2021.
